Dale, Wendy and Rod teamed up for a great presentation on DI's annual conference in Brazil.

Wendy talked about her trip with Rodney to Rotary International's Annual Conference in Sao Paolo, Brazil in June.

Wendy and Rod took full advantage of their trip by taking a few side excursions while they were in the neighborhood.  They stayed 3 days in Rio to celebrate Rod's birthday.  They walked along Cocabana Beach and climbed up to the Christ the Redeemer statue.  Although it was hot and muggy, they had a great time.

They spent two days at the Iguazu Falls along the Brazillian/Argentine border.  Iguazu stands for Big Water and it certainly earns it's name.  The falls are two thirds larger than Niagara and they're wider than Victoria Falls in South Africa (though Victoria generates the largest curtain of falling water).

14,000 Rotarians from 80 different districts attended the conference, which was celebrated in typical Brazilian fashion.  The host district put on a Carnival festival just for Rotary (Carnival, it's not just for before Lent anymore).  Wendy was also impressed with the Rotary Peace Symposium which is trying to reach a mathematical formula for peace.  That sounds confusing, and I suspect it is.  But mathematicians are pretty smart in general and if they can help this cause, I'm all for it!

Next year, RI's conference is in Seoul, South Korea.
