Meeting June 9, 2014
Today we welcomed Jamie and Karmi from Catholic Charities. They spoke about their work with Northwest Senior Charities and preventing elder abuse.Recent legislation placed greater emphasis on protecting vulnerable adults and clarified who was responsible for cases of suspected abuse as well as what services should be provided and how. Northwest Senior Charities’ goal is to help seniors and adults with disabilities to live independent lives for as long as possible. This sometimes puts them in difficult situations because part of independent living means their clients must be allowed to make poor decisions.
